Sustainability
Every day, AL-NEMAH generates substantial quantities of agro-foods. We are aiming to improve transparency on the origins of those agro-foods (rice, yellow maize, and potatoes), their methods of cultivation, and the social and environmental effects of our agro-foods supply chains and processing operations.
Sustainability
Pursuing the aim of sustainability
The areas which need an improvement are:
- Land use including biodiversity, soil, and soil health
- Water
- Climate change (greenhouse gas emissions)
- Farmer livelihoods
AL-NEMAH is dedicated to obtaining sustainably produced agro-foods in significant supply chains around the world as a top exporter of rice, yellow maize, and potatoes.
We understand the risks and difficulties associated with growing maize in a particular place, and we focus on areas for ongoing improvement that are important to the farmer, the consumer, and the environment. This is how we define sustainable agro-foods.
In order to address the environmental impact of agro-food production and promote continuous improvement, we work with farmers. This includes lowering fertiliser use and nutrient runoff, enhancing water quality, lowering erosion, enhancing soil health, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions from crop cultivation.
On the processing side, we are always looking for ways to make our facilities more effective so that we can save energy, water, and other resources.
We hold the livelihoods of farmers and working conditions in our maize supply chain to high standards in terms of both economic and social behaviour.
